Get acquainted before you commit
- Keep your first conversations in the app and arrange a virtual walkthrough.
- Review the host's details, house rules, price, deposit, dates, and required disclosures.
- Document badges record cross-checks. They do not guarantee a person or property is safe.
A careful in-person handover
- Arrange the walkthrough during daylight, ideally between 9 AM and 6 PM.
- Bring a friend, coworker, or someone you trust.
- Inspect the room, shared areas, exits, and visible smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Test the actual keys before exchanging any money.
- Exchange funds directly in person. Prefer a traceable payment method and keep a receipt.
If the price changes at the door
Do not accept unexpected charges. Before key acceptance, use your arrival workspace to report a price discrepancy. The reservation is put on hold and the report enters the staff safety queue.
If you feel unsafe
Leave the premises if you can do so safely. In immediate danger, call local emergency services. A platform safety report records the incident and alerts authorized staff, but it does not guarantee emergency response, replacement housing, or payment reimbursement.
After you move in
Record existing room conditions within 24 hours of key acceptance. Keep utility and payment acknowledgments together. Handle ongoing tenancy matters directly with the host or obtain appropriate local assistance.
